How to fill out your primary application

How to fill out your primary application Share Share via TwitterShare via FacebookShare via Google PlusShare via LinkedInShare via E-mail Plan to spend quite a lot of time on your applications. Some students have compared the time demand of the application process, including the primary and supplementary applications, to that of taking three semester-long coursesPrint out and read the official instructions completely before beginning to fill out any part of the application. Everyone wants to skip this step but it is wise to carefully read the instructions before you begin. The first section you should fill out is the Schools Attended section even though it is leid listed first. After entering each school, print out the accompanying Transcript Request Form. You will need to include that form when you ask each of your schools to send an official transcript to the centralized application service. You can and should do this step first well before you submit your application so that your application will not be held up later because transcripts have not been received yet. (Remember, if you have AP/IB credit on your CU Boulder transcript, you need to ask again for the itemized credit to be sent with your official transcript. See instructions in the section on official transcripts above.)As you fill out the Coursework section, enter the names of the courses EXACTLY as they are displayed on your official transcripts. Read the instructions carefully to understand how to enter non-standard forms of credit such as that for AP/IB or study abroad courses. The centralized application service will compare your entries to your official transcripts and will note any errors that they needed to correct. Too many errors would convey a poor impression of your attention to detail. Now enter the meaningful activities you identified in the section above. It is often a challenge to stay within the character limits but your goal is to describe what you actually did making clea r what your contributions were and (if you have space) what you learned or how you benefited. Consolidate where possible. For example, if you were on Deans List for six consecutive semesters and received another form of academic recognition, create one entry called Academic Recognitions, not seven separate entries. When the application is complete, have at least three different people proofread the whole document. Errors reflect poorly on you. They can be interpreted as an indication that you are not committed to becoming a healthcare professional. Please authorize the centralized application service to release your information to your PreHealth Advisor so we can best advise you throughout the application year. All your information will be kept strictly confidential. Before submitting, double-check that you followed all of the instructions and make copies of ALL parts of the application.Submit your application, pay the fee, and get ready to fill out secondary applicationsWhy you should order copies of your official transcripts before you need themMany people are surprised that this step should be first in the process but it is important for you to order copies of your official transcript to be sent directly to you from every U.S. or Canadian college or university that has any sort of academic record for you including CU Boulder.Do this several months before you intend to submit your application When you fill out your application, you will need to enter your coursework exactly as it is shown on your official transcripts. Therefore, look at your official transcripts several months in advance so you have time to have any errors corrected.Even if the only record a college or university has for you is from a non-credit course, a course you took in high school, or from credit you earned during a study abroad program, you will need to enter it on your professional school application. You should request an official copy of the transcript now to verify that it is correct. You do not need to request transcripts from any foreign universities outside of the U.S. or Canada, however. This step also pertains to your CU Boulder transcript. The unofficial CU Boulder transcript that you and your advisor can access by computer differs slightly from the official transcripts that are sent out especially with regard to AP credits. You will want to see what is actually being sent out. Note that on official CU Boulder transcripts, AP and IB credits are not broken down by individual courses. If you have AP or IB credit, you must specifically ask the Registrars arbeitszimmer to provide an dateianhang that lists your itemized AP/IB credit. (Note that you must order a PAPER copy of your transcript in this case. On the online transcript order form, upload a Word document to ask for youritemized AP/IB credit to be provided as an attachment to your transcript.)CategoriesHealth Professions
